LAURA CAHEN

French singer-songwriter Laura Cahen is one of the most important voices on the indie scene in her home country and is coming to the Gretchen with her new album "De L'autre Côté".

Laura Cahen combines acoustic and electronic sounds to create soulful, self-reflective soundscapes - carried by her crystal-clear voice. Influences from artists such as Laurie Anderson, Laura Marling and Adrianne Lenker can also be heard. In the form of poetic love songs, she deals with questions of femininity, homosexuality and feminism, but also with ecological issues. She comes to her concerts with a suitcase full of stylistic elements ranging from classic chanson to flawless pop song, mixing the new with the traditional and drawing on elements from pop, trip hop and chanson.

In the ten years of her career, Laura Cahen has toured France as well as parts of Europe and America. On her previous album "Des Filles", she collaborated with Juliette Armanet, Jeanne Added and Yael Naim, among others. Three songs from her second album "Une Fille" were used in TV shows and films, including "You" (Netflix), "Tales of the Walking Dead" (AMC) and the Oscar-nominated film "I Lost My Body". "De L'autre Côté" is Laura Cahen's third studio album, which she produced together with Mike Lindsay and Josephine Stephenson.
