Directed by Tilla Kratochwil, this is a sensual mixture of theater, live music and puppetry. Rike Schuberty embodies the single-parent shop assistant
saleswoman Paula, who fights unconditionally for her happiness. A woman of the people,
who is allowed to talk the way she talks, who is allowed to know what she knows, who is old enough to have no doubts about great love.
Rike Schuberty accompanies herself on the guitar and interprets the hits from the film, made famous by the Phudys, live.
"Paul and Paula" was and is cult. In 1973, 3 million people saw the movie in a short time. It reflected the attitude to life of an entire generation.
Both the film and the play are an entertaining reflection on love, adaptation and the contradiction between ideal and reality. 60 years after the founding of the GDR, the reality is different - but the dreams are the same!
