Das St. Patrick's Festival von Irish Film Berlin präsentiert nicht nur Highlights der irischen Filmkunst, sondern ein kulturelles Ereignis mit Live-Musik, das die Menschen am St.-Patrick's-Wochenende zusammenbringt.

Mit einer Mischung aus Dokumentationen, die zum Nachdenken anregen, energiegeladenen Spielfilmen und einer Erkundung der visuellen Künste, bietet es für jeden etwas. Kommt wegen der Filme und bleibt für den Craic (Spaß in Grün) – denn neben den Filmvorführungen erwartet euch auch eine Live-Musik-Session!

Zum dritten Mal lädt das Festival zu einer filmischen Reise durch Irlands Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft ein. Am Samstag stehen die visuellen Künste und die Musik im Mittelpunkt – von der Geburt des Punkrocks in Good Vibrations über U2s musikalische Neuerfindung in Berlin mit ihrem Album Achtung, Baby in From The Sky Down bis zur rebellischen Energie des vielfach prämierten, irischsprachigen Hip-Hop-Trios Kneecap. Am Montag untersucht The Irish Question die Vor- und Nachteile einer möglichen Vereinigung Irlands. The Flats hingegen zeigt die bis heute spürbaren Folgen des Nordirlandkonflikts und gewährt einen bewegenden Einblick in das Leben der Betroffenen. Den Abschluss bildet eine Retrospektive von Neil Jordan mit Breakfast on Pluto – eine farbenfrohe Reise zur Selbstfindung vor dem Hintergrund gesellschaftlicher Umbrüche.

The Irish Film Berlin Festival is both a celebration of Irish Film, and a cultural and social event that brings people together over St. Patrick’s Weekend. 

With a blend of thought-provoking documentaries, energising films and a celebration of the visual arts, there’s something for everyone. Come for the screenings and stay for the craic – we’ll have a live music session too!

Now in its third year, the festival brings you on a journey through Ireland's past, present, and future. On Saturday, explore the arts and dive into many music scenes of Ireland, from the birth of punk in “Good Vibrations”, U2 evolving into rock stars in Berlin in “From The Sky Down”, to the Irish-language rap sensation “Kneecap”.

On Monday, "The Irish Question" invites you to ponder the possibility of a united Ireland, with all the challenges that entails, and "The Flats," confronts the lingering effects of the Troubles in Belfast, offering a poignant look at the lives of those affected by the historical conflict.
We finish with a Neil Jordan retrospective "Breakfast on Pluto," a colourful journey of self-discovery set against the backdrop of societal change.
