Das Zitat der Jazzlegende Steve Lacy hat sich das seit 2010 bestehende Berliner Ensemble Oktopuzzle
zum Motto gemacht.
Unter der Leitung des Berliner Bassisten und Komponisten Horst Nonnenmacher erarbeitete sich die
Band über Jahre hinweg ein Repertoire aus Titeln von Horst Nonnenmacher, Hannes Zerbe, , Duke
Ellington, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter und Eigenkompositionen der Bandmitglieder.
Die Band zeichnet sich unter anderem durch energetische Improvisationen und kommunikatives
Zusammenspiel aus.
Oktopuzzle erspielte sich in zahlreichen Konzerten (Zosch, Jazzfest Charlottenburg, Kunstfabrik Schlot,
im MIM oder Juni 2014 bis September 2015 monatlich im ZigZag Jazzclub, ehem. Noyman Miller) Fans
und Routine. Seit Jahren präsentiert sich das Ensemble jährlich beim Berliner Jazztreff, wobei jedes Mal
Mitglieder der Band Preise gewannen. 2013 gewann die ganze Band den "Hauptgewinn": Einen
Aufnahmetag im Blackbird Music Studio.
2023 nahm die Band ein live Video im Studio Castalian spring auf, auch dies ein Preis des Berliner
Jazztreff.

The Berlin ensemble Oktopuzzle, which has existed since 2010, has taken the quote from jazz legend Steve Lacy as its motto. Under the direction of Berlin bassist and composer Horst Nonnenmacher, the band has spent years developing a repertoire of songs by Horst Nonnenmacher, Hannes Zerbe, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter and original compositions by the band members. The band is characterized by energetic improvisations and communicative interaction. Oktopuzzle has gained fans and routine in numerous concerts (Zosch, Jazzfest Charlottenburg, Kunstfabrik Schlot, in MIM or June 2014 to September 2015 monthly in the ZigZag Jazzclub, formerly Noyman Miller). For years, the ensemble has presented itself annually at the Berlin Jazztreff, with members of the band winning prizes each time. In 2013, the whole band won the "main prize": a
day of recording at the Blackbird Music Studio.
In 2023, the band recorded a live video at the Castalian Spring studio, also a prize from the Berlin Jazztreff.
