Tradition and curiosity drive the duo of Art Ensemble of Chicago's percussionist Dudù Kouaté and Ziv Taubenfeld in an inspired mood. With different backgrounds - Kouaté was born in Senegal into a family of griots known as custodians of African cultural and musical tradition, while Israeli-born clarinet player Taubenfeld socialised musically in the Amsterdam improv scene - this project focuses on performing live soundtracks for African films, taking us back to a time when cinema and live music co-existed. They perform a new soundtrack for the film „La Noire de …“ (Black Girl), directed by Ousmane Sembène (Senegal/France 1966, 58 min.).
