Classical music in a dance club? Two seemingly opposite worlds collide, and that’s precisely what makes their union so thrilling: a chance to step out of the comfort zone and question existing expectations.

Percussionists of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate rhythm from a multitude of perspectives, performing works by Javier Álvarez, Nebojša Jovan Zivkovic, Gene Koshinski, and, of course, Steve Reich—the contemporary composer with sheer universal appeal. Reich’s oeuvre has had a profound influence on many of dance music spearheads, too.
Meanwhile, the String Quintet of the Munich Chamber Orchestra will explore a broad temporal spectrum, performing works by Luigi Boccherini, Antonín Dvorák, and Nico Muhly. This program seamlessly bridges the pre-classical and romantic epochs with Boccherini and Dvořák, extending into the present day with Muhly’s modern compositions.

An evening of contrasts, intrigue, and revelation, destined to reshape expectations of both club culture and classical music. Above all, it promises dazzling and profoundly moving performances.

Klassik im (Dance-)Club? Die beiden Musikgenres werden oft als polare Gegensätze beschrieben – genau das macht ihr Zusammentreffen umso spannender. Höchste Zeit, die Komfortzone zu verlassen und die eigenen Erwartungen zu hinterfragen.
Ende Februar präsentiert ein Schlagzeugquartett der Münchner Philharmoniker Werke von Steve Reich, Javier Alvarez, Nebojša J. Zivkovic und Gene Koshinski und huldigt dem Rhythmus in all seinen vielseitigen Facetten. Parallel dazu schöpft das Streichquintett des Münchener Kammerorchesters mit Stücken von Luigi Boccherini, Antonín Dvorák und Nico Muhly eindrucksvoll von der Vorklassik bis in die Gegenwart.
Ein Abend, der die Grenzen zwischen Clubkultur und klassischer Musik neu auslotet – voller spannender Gegensätze und eindrucksvoller Klänge. Vor allem aber steht er für: bewegende, beeindruckende Musik.
