Centrally located in the heart of the city, the theater is one of Duisburg's most striking buildings. The gleaming white front is reminiscent of the temple entrances of antiquity. The triangular pediment rests above the six Ionic columns, on which Friedrich Schiller's quote from the "Homage to the Arts" is inscribed in large letters.

Behind the façade lies a varied program every season. Drama, concerts, opera and ballet are on the program:

Top-class guest performances and exciting in-house and co-productions make up Schauspiel Duisburg 's repertoire. A special focus: productions with young people from the region as part of "Spieltrieb - Junges Ensemble im Theater Duisburg".

The Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg is a theater community of the cities of Düsseldorf and Duisburg, which can look back on a long tradition of cooperation between the two cities. Since its foundation, it has been one of the major opera houses in Germany. With its high-ranking soloist ensemble, choir and the nationally and internationally acclaimed Ballett am Rhein company, it has become one of the top addresses for music theater and dance in Europe. Around 80 opera and ballet performances are shown on the main stage each season.

The Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most versatile and innovative orchestras in the North Rhine-Westphalian cultural scene and the German orchestral landscape. With guest concerts in Germany and abroad, open air concerts and, last but not least, the successful concert education project "klasse.klassik", the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra has gained an excellent reputation in Duisburg and beyond. The Philharmonic concerts are the focus of every season. In addition to their home venue, the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle, the orchestra pit of the Duisburg Theater is traditionally the second home of the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
