The Kieler Schauspielhaus in Holtenauer Straße offers space for over 400 spectators. Classical works of stage literature, productions of contemporary plays, guest performances and world premieres are staged here.
The theater can look back on an eventful history: in 1907, the theater in Holtenauer Straße was opened as Kiel's second stage alongside the magnificent Stadttheater (today's opera house). The repertoire initially included comedies, operettas and farces. From 1949 onwards, a cinema was housed here for five years. From 1996-98, the historic building was renovated and modernized. The theater has excellent acoustics and modern, functional stage technology.
On the upper floor of the building is the Studio, the second, smaller stage of the Kieler Schauspielhaus. Up to 100 spectators can experience an evening of theater here in an intimate atmosphere.
