Botanischer Garten Rombergpark

Romberg Park, now 65 hectares in size (for comparison, a soccer field is about 0.5 hectares), is an urban oasis in Dortmund for everyone who needs a break from city life.

Walkers, young families and joggers regularly fall in love with the spacious park. In addition to a small lake, there are spacious meadows that invite you to picnic, a great and popular children's playground, a herb garden, show houses with exotic plants, a collection of trees from all over the world and two cafés that invite you to linger - of which Café Orchidee, which is rather more hidden in Romberg Park, is by far our favorite. It's only recently that we've started jogging away from our usual route, on which most pedestrians are also to be found. We have invented the discipline of "cross park running" and we use the small hills, the hidden benches, unobserved clearings for our fitness exercises. Many walkers and picnickers know the places we have just discovered for a long time and spend time here regularly. A really beautiful park in Dortmund to linger and discover.

Tip: There is a waffle stand in the park. So best to take an extended walk first and then reward yourself with a waffle. Works of course also in reverse order. We also learned that Rombergpark is popular for proposing to your sweetheart. Well, go for it!

Also: in spring and summer there is a herd of sheep in Romberg Park from time to time, there are regular guided tours and the flea market in the park is also worth a visit.
