KiZ (Kultur im Zentrum)

New venue for art in the old city library (Lonystr. 2) The rooms of the old city library (in the Kongresshalle building) are now called KiZ (Kultur im Zentrum).

Course rooms of the adult education center

Also accessible via the parking lot are various group rooms in which adult education courses are held.

Japanese garden

The inner courtyard of the Congress Hall is designed as a Japanese garden and is accessible to visitors when the Congress Hall is open.

The congress hall as an event venue

Whether congresses, conferences, concerts, exhibitions, dance galas or stage shows - Giessen's first address for events is the Congress Hall, located in the middle of the city center, on the edge of the pedestrian zone. Two halls, which can be used separately or in open combination, offer space for up to 2,000 people for large events. Depending on the number of participants, seminars and smaller conferences are held in 5 conference rooms of different sizes (capacity from 20 to 100 people). The 600 m² foyer is ideal for receptions or smaller exhibitions. The congress hall, which opened in November 1966, was built according to plans by the Swedish architect Prof. Sven Markelius and is in the tradition of Bauhaus architecture. It was intended to alleviate the acute shortage of space in war-ravaged Giessen and serve as a cultural and communication center for all classes.

Community centers

In addition to the Congress Hall, Stadthallen GmbH Giessen manages four other community centers and multi-purpose halls in the Giessen districts of Wieseck, Rödgen, Kleinlinden and Allendorf. Each community center offers flexible rooms, equipment and catering for conferences and other events. The capacities of these community centers range from 300 to approx. 700 people. Catering outlets are also available for catering, and all community centers also have sufficient parking spaces.
