The Watering Can Museum is a museum of everyday material culture that specializes in watering cans in a wide variety of forms. The GiKaMu also collects the histories of the objects' origins and everything worth knowing about this useful object: Both historical and experience-based.

Our collections are growing thanks to donations of objects from Giessen citizens and from beyond the region. These include high-quality antiques, designer jugs, unique pieces, curiosities, professional watering cans and a wide variety of everyday watering cans for indoors and outdoors. The collection, which now includes jugs from four centuries, is presented in part in the permanent exhibition as well as in themed temporary exhibitions. The entire collection is regularly updated on this page.

What began as a project in 2011 has now become an integral part of Giessen's cultural landscape. The GiKaMu expressly sees itself as a place of communication and lively encounters.
