We make room for young art and culture!

The FÄRBEREI is a supra-regional urban youth cultural institution of the Kreisjugendring München-Stadt. It promotes and supports young artists. FÄRBEREI has been making space for young art and culture for over 20 years. With the opening of its interim use project KÖŞK in 2014, the focus is increasingly on inclusive and intergenerational artistic projects, including in public and, more recently, digital spaces.

The two municipal facilities sponsored by the Kreisjugendring München-Stadt (Munich City District Youth Association) offer a range of activities in their own premises in Untergiesing (FÄRBEREI, Claude-Lorrain-Str. 25) and now near the main railway station (KÖŞK, Schillerstr. 38) and at open-air festivals such as KUNST IM QUADRAT on the Theresienwiese or the annual ISART graffiti campaign under the Brudermühlbrücke bridge, there is plenty of artistic freedom in the form of open workshops, exhibitions, art events, concerts and performances.

FÄRBEREI & KÖŞK are art laboratories for tinkering and trying things out - without prior knowledge, according to the principle of trial and error. They are a platform for discourse, exchange, presentation and work for and with artists. They are a meeting place for people who tend not to meet in our institutionalized society. They offer space and time for collaboration, participation and social warmth - without pressure. And all this free of charge or according to the "pay what you can" principle.

FÄRBEREI & KÖŞK love the Ö. Because Ö is the most creative, unconventional and experimental letter. Because the Ö is excluded from the canon of "correct", clearly defined, unambiguous letters, yet it claims its place confidently and roundly, with its antennae outstretched, and repeatedly takes center stage in a friendly yet uncomfortable way. Because the Ö is not egocentric, but ready for fusion and contradiction. That's why one of our city-funded long-term projects is called "Ö_Werkstatt". This is why our long-term cooperation with the MaximiliansForum municipal art space is also called "MaximiliansForum + Ö".
