The Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus - known as D'haus for short - is the largest spoken theater in North Rhine-Westphalia and is one of the largest theaters in the German-speaking world. The D'haus program includes drama, young drama and the Stadt:Kollektiv. With its productions and various events, the D'haus addresses the whole of urban society in all its diversity. The main venue is the Schauspielhaus on Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz. The curved white building designed by architect Bernhard Pfau is an iconic landmark of Düsseldorf. The venue of the Junges Schauspiel is located in Düsseldorf-Rath, the rehearsal and production center Central at Düsseldorf Central Station. An ensemble of over fifty actors, many artistic guests and around 350 employees from the fields of art, technology, costume and make-up as well as administration bring a total of around 900 performances to the stage each year. In the 2023/24 season, the highest number of spectators in the past 35 years was achieved with 252,300 visitors.
