The Athanor Academy has been offering forward-looking training in acting and directing since 1995. With a dual focus on theater and film, it gives students the opportunity to try their hand at new forms of theater, the performing arts, film, dance and TV series. As a state-recognized academy for acting and directing, Athanor offers a four-year course that qualifies students as state-certified actors or directors for theater and film and is eligible for BAföG.

The academy is inspired by artistic pioneers such as Stanislawski, Meyerhold, Artaud, Piscator, Grotowski, Schechner, Brook and Bausch. The focus of the training is on teaching a comprehensive artistic craft that enables graduates to work professionally in today's and tomorrow's media. At the same time, students are encouraged to develop their own creative forms of expression in experimental theater concepts and new media and to bring them to the stage.
