Art Laboratory Berlin was founded in 2006 by an international team of art historians and artists. As a non-commercial art project space, Art Laboratory Berlin is a platform for interdisciplinary exhibition projects in an international context. Its main interest is the presentation and mediation of contemporary art at the interface with other creative fields (exhibition series Art & Music, Art & Text, Art & Natural Sciences, Art & Law). The Artists in Dialog series focused on two artist positions for whom a theme, motif or artistic strategy was the starting point for a dialogical exhibition (to be continued). In 2011, Art Laboratory Berlin presented Sol LeWitt. Artist's Books the complete artist's books of the US-American conceptual artist Sol LeWitt and at the same time organized the international interdisciplinary Sol LeWitt_Symposium. This exemplified how Art Laboratory Berlin focuses on the dialogue between art and science, combining theory and practice in its diverse exhibition and event practice. Art Laboratory Berlin promotes contact between the public and artists. For the mediation of contemporary art and the exploration of its interaction with other creative fields, dialogues with the presented artists are an important part of the exhibition program, extended by thematically relevant lectures, film screenings and workshops. Recently, as part of the exhibition and event series Time & Technology, Art Laboratory Berlin put up for discussion the current issues of technology and time (perception) in the context of artistic international production. The development of the latest technologies over the last 25 years has had a significant impact on the shaping of our current lives. The latest technology determines in a fundamental way the way we work and communicate today. How much do these technological achievements affect our sense of time and our temporal perception? Art Laboratory Berlin was awarded the first prize of artistic project spaces and initiatives in the field of visual arts by the Berlin Senate Chancellery for Cultural Affairs (December 2012). Currently, Art Laboratory Berlin presents the series of events on the current theme of synesthesia with four exhibitions and an interdisciplinary international conference. Art Laboratory Berlin is directed by Christian de Lutz and Regine Rapp.
