The JAKI is located in Cologne's oldest inner-city green space, the Stadtgarten, where the "Park-Restaurant Stadtgarten" opened back in 1898. In 1985, the Kölner Jazz Haus e.V. initiative, an association of Cologne musicians, took over the whole thing. The JAKI was then STUDIO 672 and was reopened in 2019, freshly renovated and with a new name. Incidentally, the name is a reminiscence of Jaki Liebezeit, a German drummer from the band Can. The JAKI doesn't just offer cozy concerts like in the former STUDIO 672, but a program scheme between relaxed concert evenings and wild club nights.
