Sharp-wittedness and courage, that's what you need now, isn't it? We invited Asal Dardan and Samira El Ouassil for a double dose, we thought. Two intellectuals who are amazingly capable of remaining decent and sane in the heated debates of our time. "Traumaland" is the title of the new book by Asal Dardan, who caused a sensation in 2021 when she entered the German discourse with her "Betrachtungen einer Barbarin". It will be no different now, as she embarks on a search for traces of the German past - and the present. The different experiences of people in the real-life immigration society have perhaps never been looked at so unsparingly in the context of German history. No museum-like commemoration, but a "cartography of the fragile", as Deniz Utlu writes. And it is the fragile that all hope should be placed in.

The author, actress and musician Samiral El Ouassil, who runs the political podcast "Piratensender Powerplay" with Friedemann Karig, knows very well about the saving but also destructive power of history and stories. With Asal Dardan, she embarks on a search for traces in dreamland and towards the light.
