Zum Gedenken an Noor Inayat Khan

In the organizer's words:

Noor Inayat Khan is the descendant of the last king of Mysore, daughter of the founder of Sufism in Europe. Born in Russia in 1914, she grew up in England and France. How can it be that Noor Inayat Khan is hardly known in this country, even though she fought as a radio operator against the Nazis and was executed as a spy in Dachau concentration camp on September 13, 1944? Many considered the young woman, who had just made a name for herself as a children's book author, to be completely unsuitable as an agent - and yet she was to last longer than any radio operator who was deployed at the time.

In 2024, Maja Das Gupta curated the three-day event "Evocations of Noor" together with Sandra Chatterjee for International Women's Day as part of #sieinspiriertmich, where biographer Shrabani Basu, among others, gave insights into her research on "Spy Princess".

On September 8, she would like to commemorate Noor once again on the occasion of Memorial Day, as this month marks the 80th anniversary of Noor's death.

Maja Das Gupta presents excerpts from texts about Noor Inayat Khan, including the radio play "Liberté", in her artistic interim use "Karli 17".

Liberté was broadcast by BR in 2023 and was radio play of the month in February - here is the link to the media library.
