After the successful launch in June, Jazz & Milk returns to King Georg on November 29, 2024 with a second Label Night - and this time with a very special highlight. The acclaimed band Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange (Z*F*E*X) will be coming to Cologne fresh from their current tour in India and Australia. The band is led by Melbourne-born and now Berlin-based drummer and producer Ziggy Zeitgeist, known from the nu-soul/future-jazz collective 30/70. With his unmistakable style, Ziggy brings jazz fusion and broken beat to new life, placing particular emphasis on the energetic live experience and acoustic warmth. His music has gained worldwide recognition in the jazz, DJ and club scene, supported by renowned artists such as Gilles Peterson, Kamaal Williams, Byron the Aquarius and Alexander Nut.

Z*F*E*X stands for the fusion of improvisation and danceable music - a live experience that reflects the energy of a DJ set in human form. Their music, influenced by electronic club culture and psychedelic experiences, picks up the rhythm of classic broken beat records while mimicking the call of nature in musical form. Growing up in Australia, where there was hardly any club culture, Ziggy was influenced by the "bush doofs" - raves in the outback that connected him to the raw energy of nature and electronic music. He describes this as the playground of Australian electronic music: "This is our electronic music culture. It's about exploring consciousness and connection to ourselves, to each other and to the land."

In addition to bassist Giacomo Tagliavia, Hungarian musician Szabolcs Bognar, who has made a name for himself with his project Àbáse, will accompany the trio on the keys this evening. Together with Ziggy, he founded the duo Àbáse x Zeitgeist, whose debut EP "Body Mind Soul" was released on Jazz & Milk in 2021 - a perfect opportunity to experience them live together on this special label night.

Afterwards, Jazz & Milk founders Dusty and Ziggy Zeitgeist will take over the turntables and provide the right musical continuation together. For over 25 years, Dusty has been getting dance floors around the world moving with his mix of rare vinyl treasures - from jazz, soul, dub, afrobeat, brazil to boogie - and modern club music such as broken beat, house and bass music, from London, New York, Manila, Istanbul to Johannesburg. His latest EP "As Above So Below" is already in the starting blocks and will certainly also be heard on this evening.
