YELKA & MIEKE MIAMI @ Gretchen Yard // OUTDOOR

On the Wednesday before the school vacations, two friendly bands will meet in the Gretchen's backyard to celebrate with a double concert. Jazz saxophonist and songwriter MIEKE MIAMI from Luckenwalde will be presenting the first songs from her upcoming album with her ensemble, the first single from which, "Whispering Pines", will be released on April 26 on Sonar Kollektiv. The new album, as the first single perfectly introduces, is a much closer mix of her two musical paths: jazz and classical songwriting. On the forthcoming album, both come together in a mid/late 70s feel: pure, hand-played, warm, soulful, thoughtful, poetic, beautiful, a little spooky. Just right for the backyard of the Gretchen, between Mehringdamm and Viktoriapark. And also just right for the record release show of the Berlin post-Kraut trio YELKA, who will be presenting their recently released album "For" (Karaoke Kalk) on the same evening. Both bands know and appreciate each other very much and promise a great evening with summer evening open air and lots of smiles - matching the announced YELKA single (June): "Smile into Skies".
