Yadegar Asisis 360°-Panorama "Die Kathedrale von Monet"

In the organizer's words:

Enjoy a unique art experience in which you can immerse yourself up close in an oil painting and find yourself in France almost 150 years ago.

The panoramic painting"Monet's Cathedral" by Berlin artist Yadegar Asisi will captivate and inspire you.

With the 32-metre-high panorama, the artist is breaking new ground in his oeuvre: for the first time, a panorama measuring 6 x 2 meters was painted in oil on canvas in his Berlin studio before being digitized in high resolution, printed and finally staged in the Panometer as a huge 360° installation.

With the panorama, the artist invites you on a picturesque journey to the French city of Rouen at the end of the 19th century. The focus is on the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been immortalized in a multifaceted interplay of extraordinary colour nuances, shades and incidences of light. Numerous contemporaries of the era, such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and Auguste Renoir, can be found on the square in front of it and in the city's alleyways.

Background noises and music that reflect the atmosphere of the late 19th century as well as a day and night light simulation bring France's past to life. Viewing takes place at ground level or from the various levels of the 15-metre-high visitor platform.

Anyone who has already seen a panorama by Yadegar Asisi in Leipzig knows that the exhibition experience is always rounded off with a multimedia exhibition and a concluding film (approx. 30 minutes). In the current accompanying exhibition, he is now opening up his studio for the first time and providing a glimpse into his personal workshop with over 200 works from more than 30 years of artistic creation. The works of art, some of which are large-format, focus on the creative process of painting, convey the joy of handling brushes and paint and challenge you as visitors to take up the challenge yourself. "Paint! - any reason is the right reason," encourages Asisi.

The exhibition is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
Public guided tours take place several times a day. Themed family tours are offered for children every Saturday at 10.30 a.m. as well as during the Saxon vacations.

Tickets can be purchased at the Panometer ticket office or online in advance.
