The horror of war is getting closer and closer and is getting under the skin of us all. Thinking and language in Germany are becoming increasingly militarized. But what about the chance of peace?

We want to explore the question of what peaceful ways there are to end wars and create security for all. What can we learn from previous wars and conflicts, what dynamics and tools are necessary to enable hostile actors to talk to each other and make peaceful solutions possible? What could we do better in the next 30 years than in the last 30?

With Jan van Aken, we venture an exciting look behind the scenes of diplomatic peace-finding processes and want to discuss the possibilities of a future peace order for Europe.

Author: Jan van Aken works on international conflicts at the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung. He holds a doctorate in biology, worked as a genetic engineering expert for Greenpeace and from 2004 to 2006 as a biological weapons inspector for the United Nations. Between 2009 and 2017, he was a member of the left-wing parliamentary group in the Bundestag.
