Workshop Rahmentrommel-Spielen mit Luca Rossi

The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne presents the workshop Frame Drum Playing, which will take place on Friday, February 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the institute's theater hall.

Luca Rossi will lead the audience with his drum through an intimate performance centered on traditional music from Campania, the so-called Tammurriata, with prayers, stories and serenades.

Luca Rossi is one of the most important representatives of tammurriata - the playing of the Campanian drum - and thus also of the traditional music of southern Italy. For years, he has taken his ancient drum with him on trips to Rome, Paris, Athens and Berlin, as well as to Yerevan, Tangier and Dakar. Over the years, numerous collaborations have been created with his instrument on stage, on albums and in the field of film music. From Enzo Avitabile to Teresa de Sio, from the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare to the recent performance at the Lincoln Center in New York conducted by Nicolas Jaar "Weavings" to a Chilean tour with the Inti Illimani.

Workshop in Italian and English, suitable for all levels.

The free workshop is open to a limited number of participants.
