Workshop: Connecting the Dots

In the organizer's words:

Recognizing, reflecting on and changing colonial traces - A practice-oriented training course on the timeline method 'Connecting the Dots' for teachers and educational actors

As part of the project "Overcoming Colonial Continuities", a training course is being offered for teachers and multipliers on the use of the timeline method 'Connecting the Dots'. The timeline method "Connecting the Dots" is an effective method for political education and the teaching of historical knowledge. The method involves assigning random quotes from different eras to a timeline. It is less about direct historical connections and more about reflecting on colonial attitudes and reception. The method is therefore particularly suitable for political education work in order to raise awareness of colonial language, racist narratives, but also for resistant practices in relation to Germany's colonial past, and to engage in further reflection.

In the workshop, you will experience the method from the participants' perspective and then receive further information on how to implement the method yourself. The workshop is primarily aimed at teachers, prospective teachers and multipliers in (political) education work, but also at those interested in and committed to post-colonialism and One World engagement.

The speaker is Anna Engelhardt from Welthaus Dortmund.

The training is free of charge due to the project.

We kindly ask you to register at kontakt@welthaus-dortmund.de
