In the organizer's words:

The Wohnzimmerslam is the coziest poetry slam in the entire Ruhr area - that`s for sure!

Every month, we invite 6-8 poets from Dortmund and the surrounding area to vie for the audience's favor with their self-written texts. The contributions must not exceed the time limit of six minutes and must be performed without props. The jury is randomly selected each evening and may decide whose words have reached the hearts and who can take home the victory, fame and amore. Our stage is shared by newcomers and slam professionals. Because there are no thematic guidelines for the texts, every slam is a grab bag. It can be political, personal, funny, lyrical, absurd or weird. In any case, in a good way. The event is usually presented by a duo with authenticity, hilarious jokes and profundity.

The living room slam has been taking place at Taranta Babu for ten years. The many words that have been spoken into the microphone during this time hang in the air and are practically part of the interior design. The living room of the spoken word, you could say.

It's in our blood to create our events as safer spaces. Discrimination of any kind has no place here. So that everyone can participate in fantastic word art, there is always an awareness person, for example, who is available as your contact person for the evening, answering any questions about toilet paper, menstrual production and accompaniment to the train station and is happy to take criticism and discomfort. Come as you are: queer, loud, covered, a little shy, alone or with all the people you know in passing, great and wonderful - however you feel comfortable. We are looking forward to a feel-good atmosphere and an audience that is simply in the mood for culture.
