The course takes place over one weekend (Saturday 09:00 to 16:30 and Sunday 09:00 to 14:30) and is self-contained.

In DGS 1 we introduce you to German Sign Language (DGS) in a playful way. We will give you a brief introduction to deaf culture and deaf history as well as the opportunity to ask questions. We practise with you using non-verbal communication to get used to communicating without a voice. You will learn how to hold simple conversations in DGS, for example how to start a conversation by greeting someone.
