based on a true story by Kai Hermann & Horst Rieck | in a version by Lisett Ansorge & Ensemble
At the age of 13, Christiane F. takes heroin for the first time: "All the shit is suddenly gone. I feel better than ever before." But the initial elation is quickly followed by the alienation of addiction. In the morning she goes to school and in the afternoon she goes with her friends to the Zoo station, to hose and to the children's street to get the money for the drugs.
to get the money for the drugs. Several attempts at withdrawal
fail. What remains is the constant hunt for the next fix.
The story of the "Children from Bahnhof Zoo" shocked an entire country at the end of the 1970s and is still considered a negative prime example of drug use in Germany today. But it is not just a story. It is a fate. It is a life. The production shows the life of a young woman who longs for a different, better life and repeatedly takes wrong turns along the way. It is a story about first love, the unconditional search for freedom and recognition, crossing boundaries, intoxication and ultimately self-destruction.
