In 1827, just one year before his death, Franz Schubert set his Winterreise to music and left the world the testimony of a soul shattered by world-weariness. Director Armin Petras and musicians Sebastian Vogel and Thomas Kürstner headline this journey through a lonely winter landscape. "You will soon hear and understand" - Schubert announced his "Kreis schauriger Lieder" with equal parts mystery and meaning. What followed went beyond the depiction of a mere season: it is the search of a homeless soul that is exposed to its own weather in a free fall between life and love, death and transfiguration.

With music, scene and song, the team embarks on a journey to find the "self" between powerlessness and empowerment in the face of the loneliness of longing and searching for one's own feelings. The path? The destination. The goal? Uncertain.
