Where does the left go from here? Does left-wing politics still have a chance - and if so, under what conditions? A taz talk with Klaus Lederer and his book "Saving the world with the left".
There is actually a lot for left-wing politics to do. Crises and fears about the future dominate our everyday lives. The tranquillizers of the Merkel years no longer work. The left once set out to fight for a better life for everyone. Today, it has to fear for its political survival, both in and out of parliament. Angry populism and disunity are paralyzing left-wing politics.
Klaus Lederer, the former cultural mayor of Berlin and one of his party's most popular politicians, thinks leftism, as described in his current book "Mit links die Welt retten. For a radical humanism".
He describes his own experiences of upheaval and provides answers to the pressing questions of our time: How can we make our world fairer, more liveable and more sustainable? How can we look forward to a better future in freedom and community?
