'I asked how it goes' echoes in the room. Silence. We don't know who asked the question and nobody wants to answer it.
Functionality is one of the fundamental standards by which our thoughts and actions are measured. Life begins in a vacuum, from which we emerge into reality through curiosity and imagination and, in the process, understand how the world and we ourselves function by playing, trying things out and getting to know each other.
As we grow up, other variables increasingly replace this carefree discovery. They are replaced by experience and science, which decode complex relationships for us, but also by gender roles and social norms, which are often synonymous with conformity, control and performance and deprive us of the freedom of imagination. But what happens when we revisit this fantasy by questioning the functions themselves? Kira Fröse, Elena Blazquez and Bodo Nolte are making this daring attempt in a joint exhibition.
Compositions of color and materiality - from ceramics and textiles to embroidered text processing - open up new perspectives on the everyday and explore in a sensual way how it works.
