Reading and discussion with Anna Brüggemann

We all loved her debut novel "Trennungsroman" and so we were delighted that Anna Brüggemann has written a new novel and that we can invite her to Bielefeld. So come along to Nr.z.P. and listen with us to these beautiful, funny, profound lines about mothers, daughters, growing up, staying small, about feeling and being angry, about happiness and hate and about the fact that our roots are always within us, even when we cut them.

What is it about?

Regina is a typical representative of the post-war generation, she already had many opportunities, she could study psychology and dream of an academic career, only to cut back for the sake of her family. She now places all her hopes in her daughters Antonia and Wanda. Antonia consistently undermines them, drops out of university and becomes a single mother. Wanda fulfills all her hopes and manoeuvres herself into an eating disorder that is ignored by everyone. Throughout their lives, the sisters vacillate between mutual competition, autonomy and the desire to be recognized by their mother even after her death.
