Wine tasting FÖLD
Amazing new artisanal wines from Hungary and Czech Republic. "Föld" is Hungarian for soil, earth, field
with Goldhahn and Sampson and K&U-Weinhalle
"Föld " is the name of a group of committed winegrowers from Hungary and the Czech Republic who boldly produce wines full of character and self-confident identity on small plots of land with living soils using exclusively regenerative or biodynamic cultivation methods. Handcrafted, free from agricultural chemicals and without the additives of modern winemaking. Pressed from sometimes unpronounceable-sounding, often local grape varieties. Red and white. Dry and sweet. Breathtakingly independent. Stylistically understandable, but "different" than usual. Flavors as high-quality as they are convincing.
A wine tasting that has never been seen before in Germany. No mainstream wines, no big names, no beautiful bottles, but breathtakingly independent wines from committed winegrowers from the Czech Republic and Hungary, who hardly have a lobby, but absolutely deserve one.
The FÖLD winegrowers all present their wines in person. Most of them work in the spirit of the natural wine movement, without the additives of modern oenology and with only minimal use of sulphur. However, they do this so competently and without ideology that their wines express the character of their diverse soils and climates in an expressive and unmistakable way that is clean, pure and free from bacterial interference. We will demonstrate this in corresponding masterclasses during the tasting.
These are stylistically fascinatingly diverse wines that we import and present out of conviction because we consider them to be an exciting addition to the market in the high-quality niche - even if their grape varieties and origins are largely unknown and difficult to pronounce.
Artisanal wine from Eastern Europe is just about the most exotic thing the wine market has to offer. While scientists are almost desperately calling for more biodiversity in nature and agriculture, the official wine market is being reduced to fewer and fewer supposedly "noble" grape varieties from the same growing regions. Our commitment to the wines of Eastern Europe is therefore primarily aimed at preserving the diversity of original vine genetics that still exists there, the diversity of indigenous grape varieties that are ideally adapted to their local growing conditions, and sustainable viticulture for living soils, because only it is able to bring the character of origin unmistakably and comprehensibly into the glass through naturally spontaneous fermentation. The niche of the niche, sustainable and pioneering.
We, the importers Sascha Rimkus from Goldhahn and Sampson in Berlin, Sarka Betke from Vinofactum in Berlin and Prague, Szabolcs Lux from the Winebar Noble Rot in Berlin and Martin Kössler from the K&U-Weinhalle in Nuremberg, invite you - together with the young Hungarian wine ambassador Maria Antoanett Crab from"Borett" in Budapest, to whom we owe the "Föld" winegrowers from Hungary - to taste the exciting white and red wines of the new generation from Eastern Europe.
Once you have experienced the wonderful people behind the labels, you will learn to understand and love their wines. A special kind of wine experience. To be experienced in one of Berlin's most spectacular locations, the Private Roof Club, which can only be reached by elevator, in Friedrichshain directly on the Oberbaumbrücke. Not only will the tasting take place there on the 3rd floor, but also our masterclasses.
