Weiße Rose

In the organizer's words:

What interests us about the play is that the Scholl siblings were initially enthusiastic Nazis, and you can see from them that this attitude was changeable. Even today, for example, a neo-Nazi or another person who is outside the Basic Law has the opportunity to reflect on the values that are important to them and to change their own attitude towards them. The members of the White Rose did not carry out any wild acts of sabotage or explosives. They only did the obvious: published their values: freedom and justice, and "the generous cooperation of all peoples" as the basis of a new Europe.

In the accompanying events below, you can discover the history of a Nazi resistance group in Erfurt as well as historical sites on a tour of the city. The New Right, which is gaining strength today, will also be addressed in lectures, e.g. by a CORRECTIV reporter.

The list of contemporary operas that have been performed in the STUDIO.BOX is now impressive: In the Penal Colony by Philip Glass (world premiere 2000), Europera 5 by John Cage (world premiere 1990), Dichterliebe by Christian Jost (world premiere 2017), Pleasure by Mark Simpson (world premiere 2016) as a German premiere and, most recently, Denis & Katya (world premiere 2019) by Philip Venables.

The chamber opera Weiße Rose by Udo Zimmermann (1984/85) is a classic of contemporary opera and is being staged at Theater Erfurt for the first time.
