We Won’t Shut Up!

In the organizer's words:

"We Won't Shut Up!" is a festival for International Women's Day that was launched in 2020 by a Munich-based collective of people from a wide range of backgrounds with the aim of bringing together as many aspects and topics related to this date as possible. In numerous events, women from different (specialist) fields have the opportunity to raise awareness, provide information about their work, point out grievances, but also to present their art, music and creativity and, last but not least, to celebrate this important day together.

"We Won't Shut Up!" means, among other things, that we stand up against racism and the social shift to the right, against the gender pay gap, against the discrimination of single mothers, for intersectional feminism, for female empowerment, for FLINTA* people and for more visibility of women in art and music. The festival emphasizes the importance of community, solidarity and feminism, which can only be achieved through collective action.

The "We Wont Shut Up!" collective is looking forward to being loud with you again this year!

The program:

  • Talk with Cleo

"Cleo" is an initiative for young Munich residents with a migration background. We offer a space where people can network informally, share common experiences and get active. Our community is aimed at anyone who has experienced racism and discrimination and is looking for a place where they feel understood and supported. What unites us is our common background and the wealth of experience we all share. On this basis, experiences and perspectives emerge that connect us and shape our exchange.

7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Moderated by Avin Khodakarim.

  • Comedy with Pegah Meggendorfer

Pegah Meggendorfer has been an integral part of the Munich comedy scene for several years. On stage, the half-Iranian deals with traumatic experiences such as the Bundesjugendspiele and tells funny stories from her everyday life. She charmingly addresses the contradictions of her life between an ambitious career in journalism and appearances at drunken folk festivals.
