Waving The Guns
Statement-Tour 2025
presented by DIFFUS, True Rebel, Sea-Watch & Audiolith Booking
When Waving The Guns play concerts, the lyrical range from deliberately blunt to unabashedly profound is exhausted. A WTG show is never monotonous or arbitrary, but has its own musical and thematic dramaturgy. As far as live skills are concerned, there is no need to hide behind anyone. Humor is always present, sometimes more and sometimes less subtle. Comments and thoughts on current affairs are conveyed with a battle rap attitude and even if the political stance is always clear, humor and entertainment always come first. Supposed boundaries are broken down when WTG unite their in many ways heterogeneous audience in their enthusiasm for the band. Nobody should be too sure that they won't become the target of a side-swipe, because crowdpleasing here also includes taking the piss with a wink. Everyone should let themselves fall, but no one should get lazy.
In more than ten years, without any sudden hype or musical flash in the pan, the Rostock band have built up a stable fan base, and for quite a few people they play an important role in their musical and political socialization. Instead of resting on their laurels, they continue to develop their own project organically, without forcing themselves to do anything different. Down-to-earth without being stuck, attitude and self-confidence without self-aggrandizement, eloquent criticism that doesn't stop at itself and a palpable love for the cause - WTG are the masked antithesis to the hubris of the fast-paced music business
