Stefan Schilli and the BRSO Academy

BRSO solo oboist Stefan Schilli has been a friend of the Academy for many years and is enthusiastically committed to supporting aspiring professional musicians. With his program for this Watch-This-Space evening, he not only wants to support the scholarship holders, but also specifically challenge them. As with Mozart's great wind serenade, the Gran Partita; the Adagio is also one of the most beautiful that Mozart ever wrote.

Ligeti himself saw the Ten Pieces for Wind Quintet as "miniature concertos" in which the individual instrumentalists come into their own in a particularly striking way. As with Bach: an equal juxtaposition of voices with different timbres and characteristics.
