WALK THIS WAY. Hip-Hop & Street Culture

In the organizer's words:

WALK THIS WAY
Hip-Hop & Street Culture
January 24 - April 27, 2025

From January 24, the Museum Folkwang will be showing works from the Photographic Collection on the phenomenon of hip-hop & street culture in the basement. What began as a subculture on the streets of New York City in the early 1970s still shapes music, art and fashion all over the world today. Based on the zines 50 Years of Hip Hop by New York publishers Yusuf Hassan & Kwamè Sorrel, the Museum Folkwang brings together works by Imruh Asha & Hans Eijkelboom, Paul Grund, Adam Lach / The Archive of Public Protests, Dana Lixenberg and Beat Streuli to create a dialog on the history of a subculture that has since become an integral part of the mainstream.
