Polish clarinettist Wacław Zimpel, now also rooted in the Chicago jazz scene around Ken Vandermark, is currently one of the most exciting improvisation artists around. Classically trained, he has recently dedicated himself to more trance-like musical forms. And thus to music that changes time and space by concentrating on the sound itself. He draws on ambient music as well as Alice Coltrane and classical Indian music.
By the way: during the festival, our home base, the Landfried grounds, will be one attraction richer. The Intercultural Center is kindly
us their glass annex. We are using this to set up an Enjoy Jazz pop-up space. The space will be used for artist talks, public rehearsals, small lunch concerts and readings. The events in the pop-up space will be announced at short notice on our website and our social media channels.
