The event is aimed at all those who are professionally or privately involved in sustainable consumption and business.

What makes a company valuable? What models exist alongside the profit-oriented economy? How can solidarity-based economic activity shape our society?

Using the example of IGLU gUG, ElenaSchiff presents the principles, opportunities and hurdles of community-based business. IGLU at Sudermanplatz in Cologne is a non-profit entrepreneurial company. It is about taking responsibility for what we value andwant topreserve, and how fairness and sustainability can become cornerstones of a new economy.

Zero Waste Cologne is a member organization of IGLU gUG and started in 2018 as a citizens' initiative and has been a non-profit registered association since June 2019. As an association, we are committed to spreadingthe Zero Waste idea at all levels ofsociety - politics, education, citizens, companies & gastronomy - and to networking the actors. We invite all interested parties to this lecture and to join us in making Cologne more sustainable.

Elena Schiff has been working in partnership with Zero Waste Cologne through the IGLU for a long time. She is a fashion designer and since 2023 managing director of IGLU gUG - the hub for resource-saving consumption in the Agnesviertel.
