BRD 1992, documentary film, 107 min
Director: Harun Farocki, Andreji Ujica
Language: OmeU (Romanian/German voiceover with English subtitles)
In no other socialist country did the revolution in the fall of 1989 take place as quickly and as radically as in Romania. Only nine days passed between the first public protests and the removal of dictator Nikolai Ceaucescu (including his trial and death sentence). Television reported almost without a break - and constantly live, history in real time. But whose truth do the images tell? Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujica combine the TV footage with amateur recordings to create a critical essay that questions our viewing habits and reflects on the relationship between film and history.
Followed by a discussion with Dr. Stephan Krause (GWZO Leipzig)
