Exhibition duration

12.1. - 16.2.25, Wed-Sun 1-6 p.m.

The YUNG FERN group creates immersive experiential spaces in which porosity and transformation can be felt, heard and seen. The exhibition TRANSPORÖS invites you on a rollercoaster ride: Visitors are encouraged to participate in a liquefaction, to physically become part of the adventure that the artists experienced when they made their membranes permeable in order to connect. The world does not remain solid, but becomes liquid. An association with their experience of being a mother. Their connection not only with their own child, but with the world becomes tangible.

Objects growing out of the walls, pumping liquids and whispering stories on the first floor of the art space are reminiscent of the inside of a body. The floor above is reached via a staircase whose twists and turns continue in an endless vortex. The only way to escape this maelstrom is via a usable slide into the gable room. A birth canal? Visitors remain inside. The otherwise open windows are also painted; only the outlines and shadows of a woman with her wailing sirens allow a view outside. A touch system reveals the way out: countless plaster embryos, never-ending ready-made humans. A tunnel with smooth surfaces liquefies into water. A compact mass whose endlessness is created by darkness. An impenetrable collision with the intangible!

TRANSPORÖS shows the materialization of fleeting digital phenomena. It triggers discomfort and makes people shrink. An experience that otherwise resembles a great mountain or the power of floods. Here, in the face of the human-made, the realization of the end of human consumption of "nature" emerges. YUNG FERN see their art as a contribution to social contact and exchange between people, as a place of gathering, an analogous meeting against the loss of community and against ultra-individualism. An invitation to reconquer the connection with the world.

YUNG FERN is made up of four Franco-German artists: Jenny Alten, Lou Hoyer, Susanne Ramolla and Cécile Wesolowski.

From 17.1. to 26.1.2025, the Franco-German Week will take place as part of the exhibition.

The exhibition is part of the Made In Potsdam 2025 festival.
