Under the hashtag #ichwerdelaut, the 16th nationwide "COA Action Week" for children from families affected by addiction from February 16 to 22, 2025 aims to encourage affected children and young people to raise their voices.

According to NACOA Deutschland, an organization representing the interests of children from addicted families, one in five to six children in Germany grows up with an addicted parent. That is a total of three million children and young people. Many of them experience neglect and violence and often suffer from these experiences for the rest of their lives. But they are rarely able to speak out. In the families affected, a code of silence prevails to protect them from stigmatization and exclusion. The consequences for the children are often dramatic. Their risk of developing an addiction or other mental illness themselves is increased many times over. The COA Action Week 2025 aims to give forgotten children a loud voice.

The Municipal Addiction Aid Network and the Municipal Addiction Aid Officer of the City of Heidelberg, in cooperation with Gloria Filmtheaterbetriebe GmbH, are therefore inviting professionals and interested parties to a very special film screening on February 20, 2025, at 6 pm. The film "Vena" by Chiara Fleischhacker impressively illuminates the reality of life for children growing up in an environment with addicted parents. The focus always remains on the protagonist Jenny, played by Emma Nova, who, despite her addiction and upcoming prison sentence, seems to be able to build up healthy self-esteem and experience beneficial relationships for the first time. An impressive feature film debut that conveys its complex theme with great tenderness for its main character. Following the film, there will be an opportunity for an open discussion with the City of Heidelberg's local addiction officer, Eva Leichman, as well as other experts.

Interested visitors will receive the reduced admission price of 8.50 euros as well as a free non-alcoholic soft drink as a welcome drink.
