Jenny (Emma Nova) loves her boyfriend Bolle (Paul Wollin), with whom she lives and is expecting a child together. She also loves her 6-year-old son, but is unable to look after him at the moment. Jenny has a lot of problems. She is about to start a prison sentence and she is addicted to crystal meth, just like Bolle. She has an ambivalent feeling of closeness to her unborn child, until one day Marla (Friederike Becht), a family midwife arranged through the youth welfare office, enters her life. She is one of the few people who does not condemn Jenny for her lack of trust in herself and others, but sees her as the person she is at her core. Jenny allows Marla further and further into her life for this very reason and manages to accept her help to face her fears and take responsibility. For the new life inside her, but also and above all for herself.
In her debut film at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy, Chiara Fleischhacker demonstrates an unerring instinct for sensitive storytelling and excellent acting. She was already awarded the Thomas Strittmatter Screenplay Prize in 2022 for her screenplay. (Fleischhacker, D 2024 - FSK 12)
