The Veedelszoch in Nippes is one of the oldest traditional district parades in Cologne: it has been taking place every year since 1914. The parade is organized by the Nippes vigilante group - the Appelsinefunke. The parade has only been interrupted by bans, world wars and the Gulf War in 1991.
What's particularly cool about the Nippeser Zoch on Veilchendienstag is its informality: anyone can take part! There is no prescribed motto or minimum group size. The starting point is Rennbahnstraße. From there, the route takes in Neusser Straße, Wilhelmstraße, Kempener Straße, Merheimer Straße, Sechzigstraße, Hartwichstraße and Siebachstraße. The end point is at Cranachstraße.
Starting point: Rennbahnstraße from 9 am
Procession route: Neusser Str. - Wilhelmstr. - Merheimer Str. - Sechzigstr. - Hartwichstr. - Siebachstr. - Cranachstr.
