Not all garbage is the same - as the new exhibition "Urban Trash Transformation" at uzwei in the Dortmunder U shows. From March 7 to June 15, 2025, the exhibition will show how seemingly worthless materials are transformed into impressive works of art through upcycling and artistic intervention.
Art from what others throw away
Whether plastic, fabric remnants or old nets - the exhibition shows how everyday waste can be used as a creative resource. The focus is on works that have been created from collected materials and open up new perspectives on consumption and sustainability.
Graffiti foils as a canvas
A central element of the exhibition is painted plastic sheeting, which originally served as a base for graffiti workshops. Instead of disposing of them, artists and young people discovered their aesthetic quality: the peeling paint creates fascinating color structures that now serve as the basis for unique collages.
Müllcity - an urban racetrack
Another highlight of the exhibition is the "Müllcity" - a self-built circuit for remote-controlled cars. Together with children and young people, urban landscapes were created from scrap, old household goods and components.
