Martha and Gregor are in a relationship. But this relationship is clearly sick. Gregor is obsessed with power and control and has only one goal: he wants to bring all areas of Martha's life under his control, to dominate her life, to unhinge her circumstances and to destroy her emotional world. It is a tug and pull between destructive insults and feigned good nature.
A new cognitive and psychological reality gradually emerges around Martha. Dwindling self-worth, increasing dependence and a latent tendency to be grateful that her husband does not leave her despite this. When an incident suddenly necessitates the hiring of an exterminator, reality is redefined once again.
