"During the Thirty Years' War, a Swedish soldier set fire to the roof truss in 1632. "
So says the chronicle of the church of St. Andreas in Aying. Behind this simple sentence lies a tragedy.

In the early summer of 1632, the Swedish King Gustav Adolf had his soldiers plunder Bavaria. Systematically. A war crime by today's standards. Villages were burnt to the ground, livestock and supplies were stolen, people were defiled, murdered and pressed into military service. The author Marcus Everding has studied this period in depth and written a story of how it might have happened. An invention, of course - poetry. Underpinned by facts.

The topic: religion and nation, hunger for power and fanaticism, is unfortunately as present as it was back then. And it always affects people who have nothing to do with this conflict. Nothing has changed in this respect. We want to tell a story of the people, embedded in the historical truth of a cruel war.

25 actors will bring the new play to the stage. Once again, this year's 12th premiere will take place at Sixthof Aying. The play is directed by the author Marcus Everding. With this play, the cultural association Ayinger Gmoa Kultur e.V. remains true to its line of telling stories from the times and for the times. Theater with the aim of reaching and moving our audience.

About the theater productions of Ayinger Gmoa Kultur
Ayinger Gmoa Kultur (AGK for short) is a cultural association in the village of Aying in the south-east of Munich, which will celebrate its 20th stage anniversary in 2024. The association has been staging regular theater productions with new plays written especially for the production since 2004. The special feature here is that the themes are drawn exclusively from the history of the municipality of Aying. And you wouldn't believe it - there was a lot going on in this small community. From the martyrdom of St. Emmeran to the part of the ransom money from the Oetker kidnapping that was hidden in a forest to the bloody conflict between two brothers at the end of the 19th century. The dynamic that develops when a professional director meets amateur actors can be felt throughout the auditorium.
