Tübinger Stocherkahnrennen

In the organizer's words:

At around 2 pm on Corpus Christi, it suddenly gets crowded on Tübingen's river for a good hour. The punt race begins, and with it one of the funniest and wildest spectacles in Tübingen's calendar of events. One hour beforehand, at around 1 p.m., all the barge crews present their unusual, imaginative, funny and bizarre costumes in the "costume parade", which is not to be missed, as it has an extraordinarily high entertainment value, for which there is also a prize.

A challenge cup and a barrel of beer are awarded to the winner, while the most imaginative disguises are rewarded with a suckling pig. The losers and those in trouble are hit hard: they have to drink half a liter of cod liver oil per person in public to the frenetic applause of the spectators - one of the highlights of the festival that turns the losers into secret winners. And while the first ones get the free beer for the festive evening, the last ones have to start thinking about organizing the next punt race. That's the rule.
