With pointed wit and irony, #TooUglyForCinderella tackles the difficult topics of sexualized violence and bullying in the theater industry. The main character is the young actress Leigh. She is finally cast in a leading role: As Cinderella. But her greatest happiness turns into disaster. Warning: Trigger warning!

Irmela Jane Purvis makes her debut as an author with the autobiographical play #TooUglyForCinderella. Purvis processes her personal experiences, the assaults she experienced at a large spoken theater in a German metropolis, into a haunting first work. Leigh's story represents the experiences of many.
