20:00 Simon Popp

The Munich-based percussionist and composer Simon Popp beats his way through polyrhythmic structures with an incredible sense of timing and mood. He contrasts earthy and airy sounds, blurring the boundaries between the electronic and acoustic worlds and making a powerful statement about what contemporary percussion music can be today: A rich soundscape that makes use of the full range of all percussion instruments. Sometimes driving, sometimes meditative. Popp, also known as a member of the jazz quintet Fazer, studied jazz percussion in Munich and with his music creates his very own category of non-category, " [...] which draws its strength precisely from the fact that it deliberately does not clearly distinguish itself between jazz, pop or world music. And this is precisely what makes Simon Popp one of the most exciting drummers in Munich at the moment." (Süddeutsche Zeitung). In 2023, Simon Popp was awarded the Music Prize of the City of Munich.

21:00 Full Bloom

Full Bloom is an experimental sound collective that moves freely through polyrhythmic time zones. The debut album "Time Zones" was released on Ilian Tape, the label of Marco and Dario Zenker, as part of Jazzfest München 2023 at the Blitz Club. It was the Zenker brothers who introduced Alexis and Miko to each other, which laid the foundation for the band. Broken Rhodes chords meet psychedelic soundscapes, weightless melodies, funky breakbeats and juicy basslines, the result is deeply rooted in the aesthetics of jazz, hip hop, afrobeat and dub. "Whatever happens, we try to convey a feeling that sits in your stomach and makes people dance!". The band has lots of new ideas up its sleeve and improvises them live!

22:30 Ippio Payo & Gene Labo "NAQ"

It is now over twenty years since my friend, the musician Josip 'Ippio Payo' Pavlov, boarded the night bus in Zagreb, crossed the Alps and found a new home in Munich. Josip, who grew up on the island of Murter and describes himself as Illyrian, is completely alien to thinking in terms of nationalisms. The history of El Shatt only came to him two years ago when he was on a solo tour by bus and train and reading Alida Bremer's "Oliva's Garden" in southern Italy between Bari and Taranto. Back in Munich, it was Gene 'Genelabo' Aichner who saw El Shatt as an instruction to take up the escape story as a leitmotif for an audiovisual performance. In correspondence with Josip's musical clockwork system of guitar runs and arpeggios, chimes and electric to electronic spatial expansion, Gene creates spaces from projection sequences and mapping. Live in performance, Gene then throws his net of light lines over Josip's sound noise, which turns and changes in rhythm, sometimes tracing the fluid nature of water, sometimes climbing up and down the walls. Shifting and dissolving boundary lines, a game with an open outcome. (Pico Be)

23:30 DJ Bassinsky

Active since the 90s, DJ Bassinsky plays his own mix of electronic dance music. Performances at the Tanzbude Elektra party series, which has been running for 10 years, have made him a permanent fixture in the region. His unpolished style combines deep house, electronic and techno, among others, creating a versatile and captivating soundscape. Enjoy!

01:00 Zenker Brothers

It was Dario, the older of the two brothers, who first found his way into Munich's flourishing electronic dance music scene in the late nineties. He was a big fan of hip hop and dub when he stumbled into the neon lights of the ubiquitous Goa parties that were held in many clubs. His first record player was a gift from his parents at the age of fifteen and he quickly found himself on the other side of the dance floor. In 2006, his younger brother Marco, who was also an avid follower of hip-hop and reggae as well as a passionate skateboarder, attended one of Dario's gigs and fell in love with the unique vibe of the techno and house parties. In 2007, they founded the Ilian Tape label with some longtime friends to create a platform for their own productions, and in 2012 they started playing their infamous B2B sets. Besides focusing on Ilian Tape, they have released records on well-known labels such as Tresor or 50 Weapons.
